Why We Rescue?

Every animal deserves a safe, loving home. Sadly, many exotic pets are surrendered, abandoned, or simply need a new place to thrive. Our nonprofit rescue program is dedicated to giving these unique critters a second chance. We provide the care, enrichment, and medical attention they need while searching for the perfect forever family.

Who We Rescue

We welcome a variety of furry and scaly friends into our rescue program, including:

  • Geckos – From cresteds to leos, these little lizards often need specialized care.
  • Chinchillas – Gentle, soft, and sometimes misunderstood, they thrive with the right environment.
  • Hedgehogs – Curious and adorable, hedgies often find themselves in need of a patient home.
  • Rabbits – We rescue several breeds and ages, from babies to seniors.
  • Lizards – From bearded dragons to blue tongue skinks, we’re experienced in reptile care.
  • And many more! Our doors are open to a wide array of exotics, including sugar gliders, turtles, snakes, and small mammals.

How You Can Help

  • Adopt: Looking for a new family member? Reach out to see who’s currently available for adoption!
  • Foster: Temporary homes are lifesavers—ask about fostering opportunities.
  • Donate: Your support helps us cover food, medical care, and supplies for rescues. (Venmo @marisanitsch, Cash App $marisanitsch, or reach out for more ways)
  • Spread the Word: Share our mission with friends, family, and fellow animal lovers.

Our Process

  1. Rescue & Intake: We accept surrenders and take in animals from owners who can no longer care for them, as well as from situations of neglect or abandonment.
  2. All animals are quarantined 14 days. The surrender fee is $50
  3. Care & Rehabilitation: Each animal receives a health assessment, proper nutrition, enrichment, and lots of love. We’re USDA licensed and Pet CPR/First Aid certified.
  4. Adoption: Once ready, we match our rescues with responsible, loving adopters. We provide education and ongoing support to ensure every adoption is a success. Adoption fees vary depending on the critter and if you need a full cage setup. ($50-$150)
